Building community through stories..

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Slow Pour Book Club, and we’d love for you to join us!

This club is designed to bring people together through the shared love of reading, thoughtful discussion, and exploring meaningful stories…

Each month, we’ll immerse ourselves in a book that sparks conversation, challenges our perspectives, and connects us through shared experiences.

For our inaugural month, we’ll be reading Annie Bot, a compelling novel that dives into the themes of technology, humanity, and the fine line between progress and moral responsibility.

At the heart of Annie Bot are questions about what it means to be human in a world increasingly shaped by technology.

It’s a rich, thought-provoking story that examines the relationship between artificial intelligence and human emotion, posing deep philosophical questions about empathy, autonomy, and the future of humanity.

Through its lens, we explore the boundaries of technological innovation and the ethical dilemmas that come with it.

Why Annie Bot?

We chose Annie Bot for our first book because it opens up timely discussions about technology’s role in society, the balance between innovation and ethics, and the deeper connections between machine learning and human experience.

The book celebrates the creativity found in literature — blending futuristic technology with timeless human emotions.

It pushes the boundaries of story telling, inviting us as readers to think not only about the world we live in today and what this might mean for the future..

Whether you’re a tech enthusiast or simply curious about where our world is headed, this novel offers a gripping narrative that touches on modern-day concerns.

How our book club will work

Monthly reads..

Each month, we’ll select a new book to explore, focusing on those rich in themes and ripe for reflection.

Annie Bot will be our first read, and you’ll have plenty of time to delve into it before we gather for discussion.

Club reads will be released in advance — giving you an opportunity to decide if the upcoming reads resonate with your interests and schedules.

Discussion meetings…

At the end of each month, we’ll meet to discuss our thoughts on the book. These meetings will be relaxed, open, and inclusive—everyone’s perspective matters.

Whether you loved the book or found it challenging, this is a space for open dialogue and diverse viewpoints.

Building community…

Beyond reading, the Slow Pour Book Club is about fostering a sense of community.

Whether this book is your usual read or far from it, our curated book club is designed to make it easier for people to gather and read socially, by providing a welcoming space where you can explore new ideas and ways of thinking — helping us to grow together and deepen our understanding of the world..

Special events..

Occasionally, we might bring in guest speakers, authors, or experts to provide deeper context or explore specific themes in more detail.

We may also recommend supplementary materials — articles, podcasts, film or documentaries — that tie into the book’s topics…

Why Join?

Book clubs are a great way to dive deeper into literature, but they’re also a wonderful opportunity to connect with people.

You’ll meet others who share a passion for reading, and through our monthly discussions, we’ll create a space where we can learn from each other.

Whether you’re an avid reader or someone looking to pick up a new hobby, this club will be a place for connection, reflection, and growth

Plus, the diversity of themes we’ll cover — beginning with Annie Bot and moving through a variety of genres and cultural backgrounds — will open up conversations about topics that matter in our world today.
