Styling Books In Your Home

Whether you fancy a quick browse or just can’t wait to finish that last chapter during your lunch break, books play a huge role in keeping us inspired. and while it may take a lifetime to fill up a personal library, that’s exactly what makes it fun; developing your collection is an ongoing process.

Not every home update has to be a major reno. Sometimes all you need is to restyle a few surfacesto bring new perspective into your spaces.

Throw in unexpected objects.

Do you have family memories or souvenirs you want to display?

While we tend to save those types of objects for bookcases or console tables, the interesting objects can actually have more impact on a coffee table, where people congregate, so don't be afraid of throwing in a few unexpected items—especially ones with interesting backstories.

Rearrange.

Look beyond books and decorate around them on shelves and coffee tables with art, sculptures, plants, and other storage vessels, which ultimately turn the books and surrounding areas into stylish displays and focal points in a any room.

Stack.

Go the minimalistic route and display only a collection of your favorite coffee table books—no fuss needed. This can feel especially impactful if you have a bold or colorful coffee table, or if your books are color-coded or carry a specific theme.

Style with objects.

Two things that go perfectly with books, every time? Plants and candles.

You can’t go wrong by layering one or both of these objects on top of or alongside. This adds visual interest to your vignette.

But don’t layer in too many objects. Ultimately, think about function - a simple arrangement is always better.

Incorporating Storage + Organization

Trays are an excellent way to corral all of the styled objects on your coffee table and give the arrangement an added look of intentionality. (They also make it easy to clear off your coffee table for a game night or movie night dinner!)

Bowl collection make anything pieces for anything you want to keep handy. But if you prefer hidden storage, a decorative storage box is going to be your best friend!

You can also use trays and boxes to keep all your essentials organised. This could include remotes, matchboxes for your candles, coasters, or any other small items you like to keep handy on your coffee table, but that might feel out of place or not hold enough weight on their own.

Ultimately, incorporating storage is all about organisation in a way that works for your needs.
