Tomorrow’s Life Lessons w/ Creative Director H Hassan

Some of the biggest life lessons are learned the hard way and the creative journey in particular is a series of dark twists and turns that not everyone survives.

On your journey you will doubt yourself, your identity, the meaning of your existence, and how you fit in the world at so many points but through those periods of doubt and uncertainty, comes perspectives on how to navigate it.

So here is our take of the creative path we’re on now, on some of the things we wish we had learned much earlier (and are still learning) along the way.

Self doubt is normal.

The world around you will make you think that this is easy to remedy, but the doubt will often creep in when you least expect it. Remember, all of us feel like that at times. There is so much healing when friends and family normalise these feelings..

Many of them have been through those periods of doubt and uncertainty and have great perspectives on how to navigate it.

Be empathetic to yourself.

You are exactly where you need to be. Take a moment to appreciation this and recognise the profound beauty of your journey and be open to all there is to learn in the present moment.

The process is a journey.

It takes consistent time and effort to be an expert in any area.

We usually get discouraged when things take more time than we thought.

Take a look around your environment at any person you deem successful and you’ll notice that they all have one thing in common - they took time to learn and mastered their craft like no one else.

Take time to continually learn your craft because there is no elevator to success; you have to take the stairs.

If you can’t fly then run…

If you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward. We’ve learnt to keep moving forward.

We are not a trees, we can adjust our positioning in life and so can you. As human beings we have to move forward in order to reach our destination. Stagnancy is like paralysis, it is a curse. Complete stoppage is the biggest damage to your spirit and progress - whatever your condition or opportunity, keep moving forward.

In a world where everyone is trying to be like someone else, it takes great amount of courage to take the road less traveled.

Your destiny is different than anyone else’s out there in the world. It takes a tremendous amount of guts to follow your own trail by listening to your heart.

Trust your ‘weird’ and embrace what makes you or your idea different.

Finding the right balance of doing work for income and doing work for play is essential.

Whether you’re a musician, a furniture maker, or a graphic designer – it’s critical that you’re making time to play in addition to the work that you do for money.

This playtime will be an important feedback process into your paid work and, more importantly, it’s what will feed your soul and keep you going even when the paid work does not.

Find that balance.

Lastly.. Theres always tomorrow.

When things don’t go right, remember that there’s always a next time. Take this opportunity to learn and try again tomorrow
