How To Be More Optimistic w/ H Hassan
At its most basic level, optimism is contagious. We are fortunate enough to be surrounded some of the most positive people that we know. Their energy and positive optimism helps us stay positive on a daily basis, despite the obstacles in the road to forward progress.
Like many people, we are naturally attracted to positive thinking and optimists as it’s just more fun to be around people who see the great possibilities that life has to offer.
For us having an optimistic outlook has arguably been one of our most under appreciated resource. As a strategy it’s has had some eye-opening benefits for us that we hope you too can incorporate into your lifestyle.
Here’s how we got here..
We started listening to ourselves.
This has allowed us to develop a mindset that feeds on the stories we tell ourselves. All too often, most of settle into the bad habit of negative, pessimistic inner dialogue, we use consistent and absolute language and tell ourselves that “things are always going to be this way, or that they will never change for the better.”
Over time, we developed an expectation for negative things in our lives, maybe even without noticing, which at times can lead to helplessness and hopelessness.
We’ve tuned in and we’re listening and talking positively with intention and purpose. We have learnt to take the lessons from difficult circumstances and push forward, expecting that better things to come.
We’re learning that interpretation is more important than preparation.
When the inevitable comes (the kind you weren't prepared for), having an optimistic outlook creates a healthier and more beneficial interpretation of what happened, which in turn creates room for you to make a plan, grow and push forward.
It’s not always going no to be sunny.
There's a fine line between healthy optimism and naiveté. It’s always best to be prepared, if you ignores the calls for a rain and venture out without an umbrella. You’ll surely get wet. Prepare ahead.
Acknowledge the challenge ahead and believe deeply that we will prevail.
And more importantly, remember the best is yet to come.
Give yourself time!
