The Meaning of Objects
Now that we are transitioning into the new season, it is a beautiful time to re-evaluate the places we live, what we wear and the objects we surround ourselves with.
We are fascinated by the realities and rituals of life lived at home and how the things we surround ourselves with can change the way we feel and how we go about our day. With seasonal changes most people often feel a renewed sense of energy, we change our wardrobe and rethink the way we look, we may feel a desire to change our surroundings too, so we travel to new and warmer destinations and seek fresh perspectives.
The transition of these seasons is a beautiful moment to look at our surroundings and ask ourselves whether our surroundings complement where we are in life and how we live.
Seasonal shifts are moments in time which invite us to give ourselves time to reflect and take a moment to reflect on where we are now, what surrounds us and where we want to be. To re-evaluate the places we live, and the objects we surround ourselves with.
It’s an intriguing pursuit – the idea of exploring our dearest objects and the meanings we attach to them so vigorously. What makes a possession prized? How are we placing value on these objects? And what might our surroundings reveal about our personalities?
This concept of sacred objects and places has been covered in museums, all across the globe, on podcasts, in various books and all types of art installations.

The objects and spaces we surround ourselves with carry a certain power. They shape how we engage with our environment and may call forth memories or emotions. They also tell our stories — of desire, past and future, of experiences cherished. Our objects are like tangible impulses of intention and archivisation. In other words, they are not simply stuff.
Objects and spaces are often reminders and energetic space holders, much like a bookmark that reminds you of where you left off reading.
They help us to stay on the path we have chosen, and to be faithful to it. They give us and our surrounding energy and faith when we need it. Steadily triggering fond memories of places we’ve been to or places we’ve been to or would like to get away to.
As believers in the power of objects, we are deeply inspired by the ability of objects - their colours, textures, proportions, and the history to shape how we feel and engage with our environment. Take this seasonal change to find inspiration in the objects and spaces around you - carefully curate the objects you surround yourself with and align your surroundings with the life you want to live.
Take a moment to ask yourself how your surroundings makes you feel? Do they complement the life you desire to live? What might you want to do differently?
Give yourself a moment to re-evaluation not just what you surround ourselves with, but also about letting go of that which we no longer want or need.
What can you leave behind as we ease into a new season?
